Strange Laws in the U.S.
Vermont: Women
need permission from their spouses to get dentures.
In the aftermath of the Gilman v. Andrus case in 1856, the
Vermont legislature moved to
enact a law that required women to provide dentists with written permission from
their
husbands in order to wear dentures. This case has never been overturned, but it’s safe to
say that dentists are not too keen on implementing it.
Friday Notes
- We are singing in church on Sunday. If you are not here for Bible class and Sunday school, please make sure that the children are at church by 9:40 to go through the hymn beforehand.
- Iowa Basics testing will be next week Monday – Wednesday. Kindergarten will come to school Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday because of the testing.
- Visitor’s Day (at Immanuel Lutheran High School in Eau Claire, WI) for the 7th and 8th graders is next Friday. Mr. Rick Nelson will be driving. You should have your children to school by
6:00 a.m. They will return fairly late that night, perhaps between 11:30 and midnight. Parents will be contacted with an ETA when they leave Eau Claire. Permission slips were sent home with the
children today. The rest of the school has school as normal.
- We have a field trip scheduled to Stages Theater in Hopkins on Wednesday, May 1. We will be seeing Matilda the Musical, Jr. The performance is at 10:00 a.m. and lasts 75 minutes so we will
be back to school in time for lunch. We need three drivers/chaperones and at this point, we have none. Mrs. Hein needs to make payment on Monday so we really need to know how many we will have
going. Please let Mrs. Hein know today if possible (by text or email) if you can help out.
- Berea Lutheran, our CLC school in Inver Grove Heights, is again hosting the annual Field Day competition between area CLC schools. This is for grades 5-8 and will be on Friday, May 10. We
will need drivers for this as well, so if you can go, please let Mrs. Hein know and also how many students you can take. We have twelve students that we need to transport for this event. Grades
K-4 DO NOT have school this day.
- The schedule for singing for the rest of the year:
- o Sunday, April 21 (10:00 a.m.) o Sunday, May 19 – Confirmation (10:00 a.m.)
- o Sunday, May 26 – Graduation (9:00 a.m.)
