Strange Laws in the U.S.
Washington: No
more than two flushing toilets in every household
Waldron Island, a small unincorporated island community in San Juan
County, has a
population of about 104 residents. Due to an increasing population, the community is forced
to ration certain essential resources like water. In order to address this situation, a law was
passed prohibiting people from having more than two flushing toilets in their houses.
Friday Notes
- Field Day for grades 5-8 is next Friday, May 10. Lunch is provided for the participants and chaperones. Those students should be at school by 9:30 a.m. +and we may arrive back at school a
little later than the usual time. Parents will be contacted with an estimated time of arrival. Grades K-4 DO NOT have school that day. Please remember to send sunscreen with your child.
Permission slips were sent home today.
- Friday, May 17, is a half day of school so that those families with students at Immanuel in Eau Claire and others may get to Eau Claire in time for the afternoon Class Day festivities.
Please pick your children up at noon. Lunch will NOT be eaten at school that day, but please send a snack as usual.
- Sunday, May 19, is Confirmation Day. Cam Nelson and Reagan Oman (along with Lucas Boe from church) will be confirmed in their faith that morning. The examination will be at 9:00 with the
service to follow at 10:00. The children do sing that morning and it would be great to have them all at church to show their support for their classmates.
- The spring play will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23. Parents are asked to bring a treat for afterwards.
- Friday, May 24, is the last day of school. We will be closing the school year with a “picnic” lunch at 11:15. Parents/siblings are invited to attend. If you are able to come, please let
Mrs. Hein know so that we can know how many to prepare for.
- Our school will be participating in the Spring Lake Park parade on Thursday, June 6. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. We usually meet at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion School on Osborne Rd. at
5:45 and walk over to the designated area from there. Please put this on your calendar and consider joining us!
- The schedule for singing for the rest of the year: o Sunday, May 19 – Confirmation (10:00 a.m.) o Sunday, May 26 – Graduation (9:00 a.m.)
