2017 School Report

At the beginning of January 2017, Grace Lutheran School was in the middle of its school year. Our enrollment at that time was 20 students in grades K-8. Our staff included Janelle Hein, full-time teacher, Ellen Bergstrom, part-time teacher, and Ann Radichel, kindergarten and music.

On March 19 we had the privilege of singing with the Immanuel Lutheran Tour Choir when they
stopped in Fridley for a concert. We had our annual student fair on April 7 with the year’s topic being a music fair. Spring was busy as always with Iowa Basics Achievement Tests as well as preparing for our school play, The Case of the Missing Part of Speech, which was held on May 24. Field Day was held on May 12 and this year we finally had beautiful weather for the event. With the closing of the school year, we lost one student to graduation. We also said good-bye to Mrs. Radichel as she retired with the closing of the school year. We are grateful her many years of service in the shepherding of the lambs entrusted to our care.

Grace Lutheran School began its 2017-2018 school year on August 28th with 21 students in grades 1-8. We currently have five 1st graders, three 2nd graders, two 3rd graders, one 4th grader, three 5th graders, one 6th grader, three 7th graders, and three 8th graders.

CLC Teacher’s Conference was held in Mankato on October 18-20. On October 23, the school took a field trip to the Ordway Theater where we attended a performance of Diavolo. December 14 was our annual school concert at Northtown Mall.

Our staff for this year consists of: Janelle Hein, grades 1-8 and co-principal, Ellen Bergstrom, parttime and co-principal, and Pastor Hein, morning devotions and grades 6-8 Catechism instruction. We were also privileged to have Mrs. Michaela Winters as our student teacher from January 3 – March 8.

Our volunteers include Connie Ahrens, Brian Bergstrom, Anita Bergstrom, Fred Dauer, Jan Davis, Jane Englehorn, Jenny Kleifgen, Rick Nelson, Sue Nelson, Norma Rust, Barb Sydow, and Nyla Welker. With the increased enrollment and work load, we were overjoyed to have so much volunteer help. We are ever thankful to the Lord for the blessings He showers upon us through the Christian education offered through our school.
