Friday Fun

Friday Notes

  • The end of grading period is today. Report cards were sent home. Please sign the envelope and return it to school on Monday.
  • We will be singing Worship Supplement hymn 798, “God, We Praise You” in church this Sunday. If your children are not at Sunday School, please have them at church by 9:40 so that we can practice before the 10:00 service.
  • Last week’s rebus puzzle answer: Grandma Explanation: The number “1000” can be represented as “Grand.” (The word grand is used to mean thousand because 1,000 dollars was considered to be a “grand amount of money.”) The letters “MA” can be interpreted as a term for mother or in this case, part of the word.
  • The 7th and 8th graders wrote cinquains today. A cinquain is a poem that is five lines long; the syllables in each line follow this syllable pattern: 2,4,6,8,2
    Pizza
    Good cold or hot
    Cheesy and delicious
Have it for lunch or for dinner
    So good!

    Raindrops
    Falling outside
    Bejeweling my windows
The thirsty ground will drink you up
    Diamonds.

    Sunshine
    A ray of light
A beam of sword from the sky
Shining like metal from the clouds
    Perfect.

    Ice cream
    Very chilly
    You could have different scoops
    Frigid, frosty, freezing, frozen
    Creamy.

    Snowy
    Coldest winter
    Snow boots and snow jacket
Cold winter nights, warm winter mornings
    Icy.
