Friday Fun

Strange Laws in the U.S. (Three for the price of one this week!) West Virginia • In Nicholas County, W. Va., no member of the clergy is allowed to tell jokes or humorous stories from the pulpit during a church service. • No children may attend school with their breath smelling of wild onions. • Road kill may be taken home for supper.

Friday Notes

  • Please remember to return next year’s enrollment applications as soon as possible.
  • The weather is getting warmer and students are once again wearing shorts to school. Please make sure that their shorts are long enough so that when their arms are at their side, the shorts are at least long enough where the fingertips come to the bottom of the shorts. Obviously, longer than that is fine!
  • Meg Snyder, grandma to the Snyder children, is offering hostas for $5.00 a piece. If you are interested in buying from her, Mrs. Nelson is the contact person. Meg is a wonderful gardener who has blessed our church with her knowledge and hard work in maintaining the plants and flowers on our property.
  • Next Friday, May 17, is a half day of school so that those families with students at Immanuel in Eau Claire and others may get to Eau Claire in time for the afternoon Class Day festivities. Please pick your children up at noon. Lunch will NOT be eaten at school that day, but please send a snack as usual.
  • Sunday, May 19, is Confirmation Day. Cam Nelson and Reagan Oman (along with Lucas Boe from church) will be confirmed in their faith that morning. The examination will be at 9:00 with the service to follow at 10:00. The children do sing that morning and it would be great to have them all at church to show their support for their classmates.
  • The spring play will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23. Parents are asked to bring a treat for afterwards.
  • Friday, May 24, is the last day of school. We will be closing the school year with a “picnic” lunch at 11:15. Parents/siblings are invited to attend. If you are able to come, please let Mrs. Hein know by Friday, May 17, so that we can know how many to prepare for.
  • Our school will be participating in the Spring Lake Park parade on Thursday, June 6. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. We usually meet at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion School on Osborne Rd. at 5:45 and walk over to the designated area from there. Please put this on your calendar and consider joining us!
