At the beginning of January 2018, Grace Lutheran School was in the middle of a very busy school year. Our enrollment at that time was 21 students in grades 1-8, 11 of which were non-members. The staff included Janel e Hein, full time teacher and Ellen Bergstrom, 3/4 teacher. Grace Lutheran hosted a student teacher, Mrs. Michaela Winters from January 3 – March 8. On January 16 we took a field trip to The Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. We had our annual student fair on April 12 with the year’s topic being a book fair. Spring was busy as always with Iowa Basics Achievement Tests as well as preparing for our spring program which consisted of three different skits. This was held on Thursday, May 24. Field Day was cancelled due to inclement weather. With the closing of the school year, we lost three students to graduation.
Grace Lutheran School began its 2018-2019 school year on August 27th with 19 students in grades K-8. The numbers were divided as follows: three kindergartners, one 1st grader, two 2nd graders, three 3rd graders, one 4th grader, two 5th graders, two 6th graders, one 7th grader, and four 8th graders. Of the 19 students, eight were non-members. On October 10, the school took a field trip to Stages Theater in Hopkins to attend a performance of Charlotte’s Web. The teachers were privileged to travel to Columbia, SC, for the annual CLC Teacher’s Conference from October 17-20. Our school invited the conference to Fridley for next fall’s general teacher’s conference. December 20 was our annual school Christmas concert at Northtown Mall.
