At the beginning of January 2015, Grace Lutheran School was in the middle of its school year. Our enrollment at that time was 17 students in grades K-8. Our staff included Janelle Hein, full-time teacher, Ellen Bergstrom, part-time teacher, and Ann Radichel, kindergarten and music.
At the beginning of March we took a field trip to Orchestra Hall to enjoy a performance of The Composer is Dead. On April 1st we had our annual student fair with the year’s topic being a science fair focusing on the periodic table of elements. April was also busy with Iowa Basics Achievement Tests as well as preparing for our school play, Queen Arithmetic , which was held on May 21. On May 8, seven students attended the annual Field Day hosted by Berea of Inver Grove Heights. With the closing of the school year, we lost two students to graduation.
Grace Lutheran School began its 2015-2016 school year on August 31st with 16 students in grades K-8. In October we lost two students but gained two in November, so we remain at 16. We currently have one kindergartner, three first graders, four third graders, one fourth grader, one fifth grader, three sixth graders, two seventh graders, and one eighth grader.
Our staff remains as a year ago: Janelle Hein teaches grades 1-8 and is coprincipal, Ellen Bergstrom teaches part-time and is co-principal, Ann Radichel, teaches kindergarten and music, and Pastor Hein offers morning devotions and teaches grades 6-8 in Catechism instruction. Our volunteers include Connie Ahrens, Brian Bergstrom, Anita Bergstrom, Rick and Heidi Nelson, Sue Nelson, and Norma Rust. We are ever thankful to the Lord for the blessings he showers upon us through the Christian education offered through our school.
